It honestly feels like I’ve been complaining for 4 years lol & thatcher lives ate never chaotic or hard or messy like mine. I’m sure they walk away from me thinking “thank gif my life isn’t like that” lol
Your sourdough starter is 12yrs old! 🎉 That's so awesome! Wish I could claim the same 😂 I just had to start up a new one.
I have a book recommendation for you. Scattered Minds by Gabor Mate. My son has ADHD. I was recommended this book. Just started reading it last month. I skipped the info sections at the start (might go back to them later, but at this point in time, I just need help!) and have jumped straight into the "Healing" section. I'm taking it slow as I'm trying to implement what I'm learning. It's hard to break old habits and form new ones!
I am loving what I'm reading. My son is loving the changes we are making too. He is far more settled and we're seeing changes that we've never seen before. I hope the book will benefit your family too.
Hugs from a stranger. Thank you for taking time out of your day to respond to my question this week. Just so you know you aren't the only one, I had to take 3 days of work this week, because I am parenting an Autistic child through her first round of senior school exams. She functions well most of the time, but these really tipped her over the edge. Luckily work understood. A book I have just started reading is Someone Like Me: An anthology of non-fiction by Autistic writers https://www.uqp.com.au/books/someone-like-me. I've only read the start, so I don't know how it is going to be, but I'll let you know when I finish.
Oh gosh, Sally, I bet that is super hard! Is it horrible of me to say that I am dreading my autistic daughter going through puberty? Because I am! I am so worried about what the hormonal fluctuations will bring. And thanks for the rec (& the hug!), I'll have a look into it x
I feel for you and sounds like you’re doing all the things to get through it. The current heat makes everything worse, you need some rain to clear the humidity and your head xxx I hope you’re feeling better soon and praise for HRT. It works! Bake the Avoca brown bread and have it fresh with Kerrygold. ❤️
Random you mentioned chill. I’m hosting a chilli cook off soon and reviewing recipes. Will check this one out xxx
Peri-menopause (why does that sound like something that should be on a menu at a Portuguese restaurant?) and this maddeningly long, horrible summer in Perth is not a good mix. I'm finding it hard to be creative and get in a good headspace as well.
Bring on the cool weather and the soaking rains. Maybe that'll cheer us up. Until then, do whatever you need to do to get through. xx
I know, in theory, I am not but any time I try to talk to a friend about my kids & how hard it can all be at times, nobody has experienced it so they are sympathetic but I end up feeling like a whinger because their lives are great & so easy!!!
you are too hard on yourself, you are having a really tough time right now, it's ok to debrief with your friends we all need to have a complain from time to time, another time it will be them complaining to you.
I wish I could say something to brighten your day just a little, but I know how trite these things sound. So just to let you know you are not alone and this too shall pass. xxxxx
❤️

Absolutely not horrible, just realistic. Generally the hormones haven't been too bad, but a period tracker was a must for her and me.

Mind yourself ❤️
This heat!!!! Rain would make everything feel fresh & clean, I can’t wait for rainy days.
And that bread might just be the answer xx
