I went & watched Wicked with a friend, not really knowing anything about it other than, like you, it was based off my fave childhood movie.
I also absolutely loved it! The songs are so joyous and there’s such a wonderful energy in it.
My eldest son saw the live show when he was in Melbourne earlier this year and loved it. He said when it comes to Perth he wants to take me to see it, and I am already looking forward to it.
And sleeping in your own bed is a game changer, yes? I’ve been doing it for years 🛌
I was thinking of you on my morning walk, wondering how you are? how's life going for you now? and if B is all healed?
this list is wonderful, i love that you are finding ways to make your life easier for you. I'm in the eat simple basic meals stage too, and I've only got the hubster at home, turns out he is just as fussy as the kids ever were!!
we also have separate beds and I LOVE it. I moved out last year with covid, went back for a short while then in the process of diagnosing my auto immune stuff it was suggested i sleep in a warmer room for winter, i haven't moved back. i was sleeping so much better until recently, hoping it will get back on track when i get this current flare under control. i've also kicked my phone out of my bed too, also a good thing for me.
alarms are like a personal assistant, i have them for all sorts of things, frees up mental space and stops the guilt when i forget.
i love that you are having a little staycation over new year, what treat.
Dec is looking very quiet for me, and i'm not sorry, i do remember those years of it being completely crazy and feeling so stressed, exhausted and grinchy by christmas, can't say i miss those feelings. i do kind of miss the kids excitement though.
take care and enjoy all your events as much as you can
I’m on maternity leave at the moment and I’m not getting enough sleep most nights, but I’m getting through the day with fresh air, cosy mystery audiobooks and short YouTube yoga classes under the light of the tree while my newborn stares at me from his bouncer.
I’m trying to lower my expectations this year and avoid the flatness I usually feel on Christmas Day by slowing down in the run up and making plans for Twixtmas. Trying not to over spend to put on the perfect Christmas and just relax. For the first time I just want to keep things simple.

Hi R, a very timely post for me tonight! Thank you!
I’m making gift lists and checking them more than thrice (memory sucks/brain foggy, is it just me?!)
Buying quite a bit of it online, but the sales alert emails haven’t driven me bonkers…yet.
Keeping meals very simple too. Heatwave has hit (28deg, you know that’s hot for here!) so bbq season is here, thank goodness for that.
Hardly setting foot in a supermarket these days (much prefer click and collect)
Cold drinks
Reading good things (We All Want Impossible Things (5+ stars), The Back Fence, A Cup of Jo, and, weirdly, Gift Guides
Slowing right down to enjoy/process/remember some birthdays and milestones and end of an eras
No late nights (we’re waking up too early as it is!)
Keeping things as simple as possible
Xx
