Thankfully most of us live in reality, and in that reality stuff is mundane and outrageously boring.
Having said that however, I don't get bored that often, I never have. If I have some time where I'm doing a chore (washing up, driving somewhere, in bed not sleeping again) I put my brain to work thinking about characters in my novels.
Apparently we are weirdos for staying at home on Saturday night, but after an excellent roast chicken dinner, my youngest and I watched a lovely old film, and had grilled peaches with ricotta for dessert. Nothing flash, nothing Insta-worthy, just home stuff.
I do love finding a good bargain, and I do love me a good cleanout. I am presently decluttering my office, and trying to put all my business stuff (cake boxes, stamps, lights for night markets, etc) somewhere else so I can get myself a second hand IKEA shelf for all the glorious second hand books I seem to come home with. I went to a local Salvos last week and promised I would only look at the jackets. However, I found myself parting with $18 for seven books that are now struggling to fit on the paltry shelf I currently have.
i'm here for the ordinary, because to me that is life. i'm a time waster it does annoy me sometimes but really if i wanted to do anything else more i would do it, and life is short it's not meant to be punishment.
I too look at what others read to see if i can find anything interesting or enjoyable to me.
my girl has just left after being home for the weekend, and i miss her. also i have realised how much nicer my life is when i don't have time to even think about scrolling
I'm all about making the most of the ordinary. We stay home a lot too! Plus we love GBBO and I have just finished watching all of the Great British Sewing Bee series.
I also have Notes on my phone for op shop things - at the moment it's mostly a sewing related list! Such a great idea. Which is your fave oppy?
PS. I haven't tried Depop but I do check in on Swapup from time to time.
"Some nights I must be pinning in a different state of mind because the next time I look back at some of the things I’ve saved, I think, “What the fuck is this!?” I don’t know who I think I am at 10 pm at night, but it isn’t always the same person I am the day of my nail appointment."
This was a total burst out laughing moment for me! Thanks so much 😂😂😂
I care for my granddaughter three days a week, so the other four are wide open to whatever I want them to be. And I do get bored, no doubt. I can take only so much reading before the words swim together in my eyes, and being Winter, it's often too cold for long, leisurely walks. I opt for a fast jaunt down a few roads before quickly heading back home to the warmth. I watch some television, and have a few absorbing games on the iPad that I like for whiling away time. I cook, sometimes I bake. I read Substack. I sometimes browse the Search function on IG. Boredom is good, though. I think it causes us to be creative. I don't believe one bit in filling all my hours with something considered productive. It's ok to whittle away time on nothing in particular.
This is completely relatable to me. I do enjoy being productive but sometimes you do to just have time out and waste some time for fun. I definitely also see what other people read. It’s like the old ‘blog roll’ people used to have. I find it’s a great way of finding new stuff to read and enjoy.
I love reading about people's "ordinary" lives. It's these types of blogs and writing (inc yours) that I'm drawn to. I will also fall down a blog worm hole when I have time.

Did I mention I need a bigger bookshelf?
Mundane stuff, but life is full of it.
Thanks for sharing yours xx

Love all of this, R. I’ll take ordinary over the extraordinary any day. (Apart from housework.)
I’m trying to let go of guilt around time-wasting. If it’s good for you, it’s not a waste of time, right?
I love Pinterest for inspiration, I like spending time there.
I think looking up follows is like an amazing treasure hunt! Not weird at all xx
