Hey friends. This is what’s been happening in my life & mind lately-
Cant sleep. Despite taking my melatonin & magnesium at bedtime, almost every night I wake up at least 3 times. Pretty much each time it’s like I’m suddenly thrown from a dream back to reality. Then my stupid brain starts up its bullshit. Urgh. I hate it. Bloody Peri strikes again!
I’ve read 3 good books lately. I think I gave them all 4 stars on Goodreads. You can fine me here-Check out my profile on Goodreads!
Here’s a photo of them.
I’ve gone from being super sad that our big boys (24 & 21) won’t be here for Christmas to being ok with it. Now I’m aiming for a super chill Christmas & instead of going all out with food I think I’m just gonna cook a shit tonne of wings. Maybe a cob loaf. Definitely gingerbread cookies. These are the ones I’ve been making for over a decade-https://www.bakerella.com/gingerbreads-heads/
I’m testing out long nails. I love having my nails painted (I get gel builder nails because they last forever) . I see a lady who lives around the corner from me & she’s great. Normally I like having short nails but last visit I told her to leave the length. My next appointment is next week & I’m contemplating telling her to leave the length again even though they do make some things tricky. I just like the sound they make when I tap on things. I also enjoy having theme nails. These are my version of a Halloween nail.
I’m bringing back the “ summer time fun time” fridge/freezer! I was going to close down our second fridge/freezer & looked at buying a bigger main one but the budget ain’t stretching to that. This is what it looked like last summer & I’ll be sure to post about again once I’ve got it stocked up.
And you can watch the reel made about it last year here-https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyfidcGLzu-eJSlTfQM2-DVkWyYmdXceTJAfLU0/?igsh=ZGNzZDQwbDd1d2lv
Didn’t hate how I looked today. Thats rare. Public bathroom selfies are weird right? But sometimes they have decent lighting. This outfit will be on repeat for summer. I had on my brown Genuin sandals. I think they are comfier than birks & they are also cheaper!
I did wear my newest Doc sandals the other day because we are in sandal weather here in Perth. I have similar ones in black, both are very comfy if you’re looking for something a bit different.
I’m taking Sades & her friend trick or treating today. It’s been real cute to watch & listen to them face time each other almost daily so they can practice their Halloween make up. One is going as a zombie, the other a scary clown.
I see make-up so differently since having Sadie. She has loved it since she was a toddler & really uses it as a form of expression. She doesn’t ask to wear it to school & nor does she wear it on the weekends very often but she does enjoy watching YouTube videos or searching up a certain look on Pinterest before trying to recreate it. I am curious how her love of art & makeup will manifest in her teens.
Blake is healing well. We are still on twice weekly hospital visits & the surgeons are unsure if they’ll allow him to go to camp in 3 weeks so my main job is to reassure him he’ll be ok to go so long as he DOESNT PLAY SOCCER AT SCHOOL! Which he did on his first day back.
I think that’s all of the boring minutia of my life. Today I actually feel like things are returning to some kind of normalcy & my head doesn’t feel like it’s going at warp speed all the time. I am REALLY hoping things stay quiet & easy in the lead up to Christmas. I hope you’re good. Are you good?
Tell soon xx
Oh! The cursed Peri (and I know we're not chatting about Portuguese chicken here).
I've been battling with it for a few years now (no, I can't take HRT because I'm lumpy) (and no, none of the other stuff works) (unfortunately) and get randomly disturbed from my blissful slumber by a) the sudden, urgent need to pee, b) the fact that I'm about to spontaneously combust, or c) nothing.
I get everything else as well and have come to the conclusion that my body has read the book on menopause symptoms and is going through the checklist.
Night sweats? Check.
Fluff brain? Check.
No memory of parked car? Check.
Burning tongue? Check.
And on it goes.
Fridges! Urgh! They shrink in the summer. Nothing fits, it's like chilled Tetris.
School's been out for a few years in our house, replaced by uni degrees. But my youngest finishes his degree next week (EEK!) before diving into a fabulous internship that he's busting to get on with.
Kids are great. If only they weren't a constant reminder of how much older we're getting!
I’m the same with Peri it’s awful I feel like a raging monster you are not alone 💕
