An explainer of why the Back Fence moved to Substack from WordPress.

Hey friends! Because I am a complete tech dumbarse I’m unsure if you have already received an email from Substack saying that I am now writing on here instead of at my old blog home, WordPress. If that is the case, sorry and please go on with your day/night/afternoon.

If nothing has arrived in your inbox I wanted to give a short explainer as to why I have decided to switch writing platforms. It’s quite simple- I ran out of storage on WordPress so could no longer upload photos to add to posts unless I paid (quite a big amount IMO) to add more and in the process of trying to sort it out deleted well over 100 photos from my archives which also means they disappeared from the posts they were attached to. My poor blog now looks silly and incomplete and I feel posts don’t make sense without the accompanying pictures. Told you I was a dumbarse!

So here I am, now posting from Substack. All the Back Fence stuff will remain at the same place (thebackfenceblog.wordpress.com) but all new stuff will be here on Substack. Nothing else changes. It’ll still be me writing sporadically and chatting shit like always.

I hope you stick around but if Substack isn’t for you that’s OK too, change can be weird or unwelcome can’t it? I have spent this afternoon, and now evening, trying to make my way around here after 10 years of writing on WordPress and it’s hard!!! So please forgive me if things don’t make sense or look weird, I’m learning something new.
