I'm wondering.....
Hey friends. Its friday night here & I am about to pick up my (E) book (finally found a book I want to read after what feels like an eternity), but before I do, I want to share some questions that have been swirling in my head & I’d love for you to share your thoughts.
Is anyone enjoying Instagram these days? Do you even post there? Because I just had a look back at my own feed & thought it looked really nice & wondered if I could start sharing there again without feeling like trash?
Does it already feel like Spring at your place & are you worried about your winter rainfall because SAME!!! Where is all the winter rain?
Do you feel like you don’t have enough time to do all the things you want to do? Because this weekend I want/need/would like to get to the gym, take Sadie to netball, do some meal prep so weekday Reannon feels good, visit the farmers markets, take Sadie & her friend to the movies, plant my seeds, weed the neglected veggie bed, spread the sheep poo & sleep in on Sunday. It’s not realistic, is it?
What’s your latest hyperfixation (if you get them?) Mine is gardening, so I’ve been following lots of garden people on Instagram & Substack, borrowed a bunch of books & magazines from the library, joined a seed club (free membership via my library!) & have a ticket to a free gardening event run by my library. I love having a hyperfixation.
Do you feel a bit overwhelmed with all the health advice out there for women? I really do, & sometimes I feel like I should forget it all & do what feels good & right for me. Because will we all be protein-maxxing in 10 years? Will the advice have changed like it always seems to? Our nanas were/all are ok, aren’t they, & I don’t think they were counting protein or fibre or worrying about lifting weights. Or am I being silly? Should I keep shovelling protein down my throat & forcing myself to lift weights 3 times a week because that’s the current thing we are told is good for us?
If you have a partner, do they know how much groceries cost? Tim came to Costco with me this afternoon & was shocked at how much everything cost, which reminded me that he actually would have no clue how much it costs to feed our family. Food is my domain & that’s (mostly) how I like it.
I think that’s it. Thanks for letting me clear my head. Have a good weekend!
Talk soon xx

I’m feeling the same!!! Not enough time to do everything I want to do, feel I NEED to do, for myself on the weekends. And the protein/weights advice seems like another fad. Our grandparents didn’t have to worry about stuff like this! I’m sure they had other worries… but hitting protein goals definitely wasn’t one of them. Health advice these days seems so specific/niche/bound to change. I try to remember a few words of advice from my grandparents ‘everything in moderation’… ‘too much of anything is not good for you’ and I also quite like the 80/20 rule (which means I can justify eating some chocolate every day 😂).
Hope you have a lovely weekend and get to do all of the things you want and need to do xxx
Hi R, hope your weekend’s going well.
1. No and no because I’m a 🦕
2. Yes it does, but there’s snow on the hills and frosty mornings still. Garden springing tho!
3. No, but I’m not in the busy stage that you are anymore. I saw someone on substack, can’t remember who, who plans one thing she will do for the family, one thing for herself, and one thing for ? something else. Quite wise, I thought.
4. Home improvements. Specifically cushions last week.
5. Yes! Too much information! Yes, our nanas were ok…but advances are constantly happening…a blessing and a curse!
6. Yes, has a fair idea, but it’s my domain here, too.
Have a lovely evening xx
