Friends, after two days of feeling like utter trash and not being able to get out of bed or eat, today I feel like I am over the worst of it. My body feels better, but from the throat up, I am still a mess. The flu got me good!!!
I started this post on the weekend and thought I may not get it to you today, but here it is. Basic and without any links, but here is April.
READING: not much to report on here. Ever since I finished the Lucy Barton series, I cannot read anything, so April sits at 2 very average, not worth mentioning books
PLAYING: I’m embarrassed to say, but I’m still playing my silly phone games!!! They have a hold on me!
WATCHING: the white lotus (it was ok). The Last Anniversary. I’m not far into it, but so far, so good. I remember enjoying the book many years ago.
TRYING: not to hate my body because it does not operate as it should. TMI, but chronic constipation is the actual worst. Also, I hate being sick. I am so sweaty today, but at least my head isn’t throbbing!
COOKING: Focaccia is about the only thing of note I have made this month. I have used Lacy’s online recipe for a while, and now I have her boo,k which is packed with bready goodness.
EATING: Oh my god, so much in Melbourne! Lune Anzak Ka’s were a favourite, as was Chargrill Charlie’s and the borek from Queen Vic markets! Oh and the limoncello cannoli! If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen I was posting little videos of our Melbourne trip with lots of food photos.
PINNING/SAVING: pictures of ladies with copper hair, because maybe I’d like copper hair?
MAKING: myself write in my Grow journal most nights, it’s good for my brain
LOVING: seeing our second eldest, Isaac, in Melbourne. I miss him so much
DISLIKING: That summer really stuck around longer than she needed to. It’s predicted to be 30 degrees at my place tomorrow!
ENJOYING: having time off work and exploring Melbourne with my kids and our plus one (Isaacs girlfriend Simone)
FEELING: like I am not a city gal at all! It was lovely to be somewhere new, but my gosh, I am not cut out for the hustle and bustle of city living.
LISTENING: Kate Morton’s Homecoming on audiobook (it’s narrated by Claire Foy!)
INSPIRED: by my friend Elinore to capture more ordinary magic with my camera and by Perth gardener Casey Joy to sort out our garden soil
ADMIRING: chunky silver fob necklaces. I haven’t found one that’s perfect for me yet, but I’m looking.
BUYING: books from Books for Cooks. I carted the three in the photo below home from Melbourne in Blake’s suitcase because he travels light
!
DOING: I had plans this week to reset everything before we head away to Albany this weekend for moto, but I got very little done. I don’t even know if I’ll be well enough to go down :(
WORKING: on my sleep. While in Melbourne, I did not fall asleep before midnight, sometimes as late as 2 am! I don’t know if my body clock just never switched over time zones or what, but bloody hell, I am out of whack! I spoke with my doctor about it on Monday, and he said to give melatonin a try.
WEARING: new shoes and new second-hand shoes, and finding neither of them comfortable for walking in.
EXCITED: that my HRT has well and truly kicked in. I feel like myself again. I am not crying all the time. I am not angry all the time. I am just the regular amount of sad and angry I should be. I feel like I have energy and headspace again. It’s SO nice.
NEEDING: to work on my stress management. I think stress, and my inability to deal with it properly, is playing havoc with my stomach and maybe is also contributing to mt sleep issues. But when your life just has stress built in, how are you supposed to make it stop? Any tips are greatly appreciated.
Talk soon xx
That was a mixed April but hey good news on HRT and catching up with the family, take care. D x
bloody planes, guaranteed to catch something.
love the pic of you and isaac.
hope you are well enough for this weekend
